AMCAW
Your website says you want new and innovative classes and presentations. Should I bother submitting an application to teach or present something I've taught before?
Our goal is to build an engaging slate of workshops and presentations that range from the tried and trusted to the new and innovative. We also want to attract a broad range of metal clay enthusiasts, from beginners to advanced artists. The SINTER event and workshops are meant to offer something for everyone, and therefore, all applications will be thoughtfully considered.
Can I propose a workshop that I already teach as an online class?
Yes. The experience of learning from you in person will be different from learning online. If the technique and/or project you want to teach is enticing, people will want to learn it from you face-to-face.
Can I propose a workshop that requires pre-work by students before they come for the class?
Yes, but be prepared to work closely with AMCAW to communicate this requirement to your students. We don’t want anyone to arrive ill-prepared and frustrated at the start of their class. Please include an overview of the pre-work in your workshop proposal.
I want to teach a pre or post-SINTER workshop. Why do I also have to present a session during the SINTER event?
AMCAW’s vision for SINTER includes a robust event experience for a large number of attendees, plus an exciting selection of pre and post-event workshops for those who wish to participate in that way. By asking our top-notch workshop instructors to also present a session during SINTER, we will ensure that the slate of presentations meets the high standards that this community deserves.
The only workshop option is for a two-day class. What if I want to teach a different format, such as a one-day or a four-day class?
We focus on a two-day workshop format to give participants plenty of time to dive deep into their projects and techniques without feeling rushed. A two-day format allows for a more immersive learning experience, ensures time for troubleshooting and questions, and lets instructors cover more complex or advanced material. It also provides a better value for attendees who travel to the event, making the trip more worthwhile.
The number of students per workshop is set at 8 to 15. What if those numbers don't work for me?
AMCAW has set the minimum at 8 to make sure we could cover our hard costs. We set the maximum at 15 to ensure a quality experience for all students. Within that range, instructors can set their own minimums and maximums. For example, if you need 15 students to make this opportunity work for you financially, then you can set your minimum and maximum at 15.
I don't live within driving distance of Orlando. Can AMCAW provide a kiln and other equipment?
In the workshop application, you’ll be asked if you can provide your own kiln and what other large equipment you will need and cannot provide yourself. AMCAW will coordinate with you if your application is selected. For tools and supplies that you would like to ship, the hotel will accept packages in advance of the event.
Why is the application deadline so early?
Can I submit more than one workshop and/or presentation proposal?
Yes, we would love to have all your ideas.
I submitted an application, but didn't receive a confirmation email. Should I be worried?
If you saw the screen at the end of the submission process that said “Success” and listed your entry details, then your application was processed. Please check your junk/spam folder for the confirmation email. If your email program has a “promotions” or “other” tab, check there as well. If you still can’t find the confirmation email, feel free to contact us at info@sinterevent.com to confirm your application was received.
I don't want to use the online form. Can I just email you my application?
The selection panel will only consider applications submitted using our online entry process. This will allow the panelists to more effectively evaluate the options presented to them. We’ve tested the system extensively to ensure that it functions well and is easy to use. Please contact us at info@sinterevent.com with any issues or feedback about the process.
When do I need to join AMCAW in order to submit an application?
You will need your member login credentials to access the application page. If you pay via credit card, the process of joining is automated. You should receive an email right away with a link to set up your password. However, there are technical glitches from time to time. We will be happy to help you through these issues, but we can’t guarantee that we can help at 5 minutes to midnight on the last day to apply. It will benefit you to join and test your login several days prior to the application deadline. Please don’t wait till the last minute.
Why do I have to be a member of AMCAW to apply?
AMCAW’s mission is to inspire, engage, and support the global metal clay community, and SINTER is a direct reflection of that mission. This prestigious event, made possible by AMCAW’s dedicated efforts, wouldn’t exist without the organization’s leadership and resources. Future conferences, events, and opportunities for our community depend on AMCAW’s continued success. By teaching or presenting at SINTER, you’re not only sharing your expertise but also supporting the organization that champions and sustains our vibrant metal clay community.
