For a fully immersive learning experience, take a two-day, hands-on workshop with one of 12 superstar instructors from across the globe. You’ll deepen your learning and forge lasting friendships as you learn side-by-side with a small group of students.

Rich Reds, Luscious Purples, Perfect Pinks.... Learn how to successfully use warm color enamels on silver clay! All while maintaining the perfect clarity needed to see the patterns beneath the enamel.

Basse Taille is the art of enameling over a texture where the texture appears clearly through the shaded enamel. This class is a great introduction to enameling for those who have never tried it as well as an appealing project for more experienced students wanting to learn more about warm color enamels.

On day one, you will create basse taille pieces in silver clay suitable for enameling. You’ll learn how to select effective textures, what to look for when constructing for enamels and what proper firing techniques work best for high enameling success.

On day two, you will learn how to prepare, apply, and fire enamels to achieve shading effects and avoid discoloration. This is a fun project which is great for all skill and experience levels!

Instructor - Pam East, United States

Pam is an internationally known artist, writer and teacher. She has been an enamelist since 1997 and in 2005 was named a Master Instructor by Art Clay World, USA.

Pam’s first book, Enameling on Metal Clay, was published in 2007. She was a contributing author for Metal Clay & Color in 2012, and The Art of Fine Enameling in 2019. She has written numerous articles for such magazines as Art Jewelry, Metal Clay Artist Magazine, Lapidary Journal, Glass on Metal and Step-by-Step Beads.

More recently Pam’s tutorials have moved to video format on Craftcast.com, YouTube and Twitch. Pam has been an invited speaker, giving classes and lectures at such gatherings as the Metal Clay World Conference, the Pan-European Metal Clay Conference, the Metal Clay Artists Symposium and the Enamelist Society Biennial Conference.

Etsuko is a Certified instructor of Art Clay Club, Japan. She is the course researcher and teacher at the Art Clay Headquarter Studio.

Etsuko work is inspired by nature, stylised and immortalised in delicate but strong and powerful designs. Her syringe work is exquisite and syringe decorations and additions of wire, gold foil, and resin, add impact and bring her silver to life.

Etsuko is on the panel of judges for the 18th International Silver Accessories Contest 2023

Etsuko's work has won many awards, for instance at the Silver Accessories Contest in Japan in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 (Semi Grand-Prix). She also won awards at the 7th and 9th Pearl Jewellery Design Contest in Japan.

Etsuko's jewellery has been exhibited at ECLAT DE MODE, Paris, France, International Garment & Textile Fair, Dalian, China, and between 2017-2019 Etsuko has been an invited Artist at the Master Camp, Shanghai Business School, Shanghai, China.

Cuff Bracelet With Inversion Technique

You will learn Clément’s signature method, he calls the Inversion Technique.

This way of carving allows you to create your own texture plate which can be applied to any metal clay.

You'll learn all about linoleum carving: tools, techniques, and tips and tricks.

You’ll learn how to not feel mentally blocked when trying to make your own design, and which method for drawing mandala and geometric pattern designs works best.

When your drawing is complete, you will carve it in linoleum with the Inversion Technique.

You'll then learn how to use your plate to transfer the design onto metal clay and form the shape of the bracelet.

You will learn how to make repairs to dry clay. Your final result will be a bracelet perfect for firing. Afterward Clément will present his method for finishing your fired bracelet.

Instructor - Clément Marquaire, Belgium

Clément creates unique jewelry through his jewelry brand Geometrically Stuck with designs inspired by Sacred geometry and Tibetan Mandala Art. All textures and patterns seen in his work are handmade by himself.

Clément graduated from the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Metz, France in 2005. He first stumbled into the world of jewelry making in northern India in 2014 where he participated in several workshops and learned traditional silver jewelry making techniques. Clément immediately fell in love with jewelry making with its combination of artistic creativity, rigor, and manual work.

He later followed the teachings of a Lama in Nepal, who introduced him to Sacred Geometry and the art of Tangka and Tibetan Mandala painting. He was totally inspired. Once back in Europe, Clément started his own jewelry line, which combined these two disciplines. He created a unique collection, modern and traditional at the same time. Magical Key

Magical key pendant is a two days workshop packed with lots of different techniques, featuring an ornate, hand formed, openwork key adorned with various tiny details.

Additional adorments may include leaves, fireable gems and half-drilled stone/pearls.

It's an intermediate project, perfect for those who love fairy tale like aesthetics and like a good challenge.

New techniques of working with coils, interesting shapes, lots of tricks for creating openwork effects in metal clay, dealing with symmetry - this is what this workshop is about.

Instructor - Anna Mazoń, Poland

Anna is a jewellery designer from Cracow, Poland who began making jewelry in 2008. Her pieces are hand built and full of fine details. They have a slightly dark, fantasy vibe, combined with a refined organic feeling and are inspired by nature, ancient cultures, and literature. Anna's materials of choice are sterling silver and bronze. She often combines metal clay with metalsmithing.

Photos of Anna Mazoń’s work have been published in a variety of books and magazines, including the covers of Handmade Business (2016 and 2015), Metal Clay Artist Magazine (2013) and Making Jewellery (2018).

Anna has been either a finalist or winner in the Metal Clay Category of the Saul Bell Design Award in 2015, 2014 and 2013. A renowned metal clay teacher, Anna has taught in different places throughout the world since 2013. Over the years Anna developed jewellery brand (Drakonaria) combining metal clay and lost wax casting.

Since 2020 she also designs merchandise for a famous metal band Behemoth.

Workshop: Resinate Cloisonné

Skill Level: Intermediate / Advanced

Resinate Cloisonné

Working entirely in Art Clay Silver, this technique begins by creating a master frame for the overall design that has a backing with a deep recess.

Art Clay Silver Paper Type Long and Paper Type Plus + is cut into narrow strips which are then used to create the intricate pattern or design within the frame.

After firing, inks or patinas are used to paint and add colour to the recesses. They are then filled with UV resin and cured to a hard finish before being polished and finished to a high shine.

A bail is created to hang the finished piece.

There are options to add a bezel set gemstone and an intricate twisted dangle.

Instructor - Tracey Spurgin, United Kingdom

Tracey initially trained in Fashion Design and Textiles. Her ambition was to teach and after gaining adult learning qualifications, she’s been teaching over 22 years for the local education authority and colleges. Tracey was teaching a wide variety of arts, crafts, interior design and soft furnishings.

Eventually, the government agenda on Adult Learning changed, reducing the opportunities she had previously enjoyed. These cutbacks coincided with her discovery of silver clay. Tracey fell head over heels in love with this medium and almost immediately decided to dedicate all of her creative time to this fantastic, innovative material. She loves to challenge herself and work on projects that she considers to be almost engineering in clay.

Hinges and lockets and threaded vessels are something that fascinate her. So she spends days, weeks and months on troubleshooting problems and ideas until she finds a solution. Meropi is a jewellery designer from Nicosia, Cyprus, who has developed her own style and signature pieces using metal clay.

Meropi has trained to the highest level with some of the world’s leading metal clay artists and instructors. She qualified as a certified Art Clay Senior Instructor since 2008, when she also started running her own MeropisArt School of Jewellery. In 2012, she became a New Mokume Gane Certified Instructor and in December of the same year, she started an Etsy e-shop.

Meropi taught masterclasses in Europe. During the pandemic, she developed interactive online classes which were highly successful.

Helen has been working with silver clay since 2011. She has her own range of jewellery which is inspired by local nature reserve; Skipwith Common. Her jewellery features the birds, bees, hares and fauna from the common.

Her teaching and tutorials are also inspired by this, generally featuring woodland styles and projects.

Her teaching journey began 2014, teaching taster sessions and projects at her home studio. For the past 8 years though she has had her own teaching studio where she teaches silversmithing as well as silver clay. She enjoys using both media to create something unusual, and is particularly keen to help people overcome their fear of soldering!

Workshop: Plique-à-Jour Enameling

Plique-à-Jour Enameling

Plique-à-Jour (also called stained glass or day cloisonné) is a very beautiful technique, by which transparent enamel is applied in cells cut out of metal (without a covered base). Thus the light that passes through, intensifies and reflects the colors, like in a miniature stained glass window.

In this class, you will create a beautiful pendant and you will learn how to apply the enamel in the cut cells. You will understand how the enamel stays in the cells, like magic, without any backing support, just using the capillary action.

You will also learn all about the thickness of the metal clay, how to saw/ carve the cells in the bone dry clay, how to sand and finish the final enameled piece.

Waves on the sea - Plique-a Jour work in progress

Corina’s background lies in economic studies, but she has always worked in the artistic field. Her creative journey has led her through painting, sculpting, and graphic design to modeling polymer and other clays.

In 2012 she discovered metal clay, which has provided her with the perfect medium to apply her technical experience and develop her own style.

Corina enjoys learning and testing and is currently using metal clay along with traditional metalsmithing, enameling, and other mixed media.

As an artist, Corina likes creating complex pieces. As a teacher, she dedicates time to making the whole creative process easier for her students.

Corina has taught throughout Europe and the USA. She is the founder and director of ARTKIMIA - Art & Jewelry Studio, the main supplier of metal clay and tools in Romania.

Workshop: Open Lentil Pendant

Open Lentil Pendant

In this workshop the emphasis is on making a beautifully crafted and embellished open lentil with an integrated coiled bail.

You will learn how to make, texture and dry your lentils successfully to make a perfect dome.

Making coils can be tricky and getting a wet coil to sit around the edge of a lentil even trickier! But with Sian’s patience and guidance you will learn how to make the perfect coiled bail that swoops around the edge of your lentil. Or make a coil that sits at the top! The choice will be yours.

The lentils will be decorated with embellishments created from tiny moulds that you can either make yourself from things you bring to the workshop or by using the moulds provided. Sian will have a full range of moulds available to borrow or purchase on the day.

Sian will provide tips on creating a beautifully balanced design, what to think about when deciding where to place embellishments and how to make sure the design is correctly weighted to sit centrally without falling to one side.

You will be shown Sian's best practices for working cleanly to ensure minimal clean up in the dry state. How she perfects the high polish and how to patinate with LOS to achieve a finish that can be anything from black to brown or even shades of purple!

Note: a high polished finish or an LOS patina will be your choice, if your desired effect is a satin finish or no patina that's absolutely fine!

This workshop has no design limitations, the pendant theme and finish is your choice! let your imagination run wild to create the perfect piece for you.

Sian has a BA in 3D Design, specializing in silver and ceramics, and has been in the design industry for over 25 years. She was the Editor of Making Jewellery magazine in the UK for over 9 years until it closed in April 2019. She has written 15 ‘how to’ jewellery and craft books.

Sian is also the website designer for AMCAW and runs her web design business from home.

Sian was introduced to silver clay back in the mid-90s’ and has been working with it for over 20 years. Sian has a great passion for metal clay and her mission is to spread the love as far as she can. Her favourite tool is scratch foam and she loves to create her own unique textures. How to sculpt the cutest little sleeping mouse

If time allows we will also learn how to add other decorative embellishments.

Instructor - Grainne Reynolds, United Kingdom

Grainne lives on the south coast of the UK in sunny Dorset.

She has been working with silver clay for about 10 years now and has been teaching for 7 years. Grainne is totally passionate about working with metal clay and loves nothing more than to share her skills and knowledge.

Grainne runs a variety of themed one and two day workshops which in recent years have proved very popular, she also teaches an evening class at The Arts University Bournemouth.

She sells a selection of her work via her website and Etsy shop and also works to commission.

Her work is strongly influenced by the countryside and the coast were she lives, she loves wildlife and many of her jewellery collections reflect this.
